Installations

Extension Installer

  1. Uploading
    Go to Extensions > Extension Installer and upload file installer/blog_manager2.ocmod.zip.

    NOTE If you previously have Blog Manager 2 installed, you will see replace file list. Proceed to replace them.

    NOTE If you get warning "using the same ID code as the one you are trying to upload!" mean you installing same version. Click the clear button and no need to proceed.

  2. Pre-installation
    1. Go to Extensions > Modifications, refresh modification to generate new modification cache.
      NOTE If you see modification with same name, delete the one with lower version before refresh modification.
    2. Go to System > Users > User Groups, open your user group. Check Access and Modify permission for Blog Manager 2.
    3. Go to System > Users > Users and ensure all user have Firstname and Lastname, especially yours.
  3. Installation
    1. Find BM2 icon on left menu, click to open Blog Manager 2.
    2. Make sure you meet all requirements before proceed.
    3. After successfully install Blog Manager 2, you will forwarded to Configuration page, go to Admin Tab to set timezone.
      NOTE Updating also require to resave BM2 Configuration to reflect setting changes.
  4. Step 4: Post-installation
    OpenCart doesn't have core mechanism to add custom link to main menu, therefore you need to add them manually.
    Code below assuming work on default theme. 3rd theme might be different and you should consult them for the best approach to add custom menu.

    If your theme have feature to add menu item through admin page, here is the route of Blog Manager 2 home.

Manual Install

If you have issues using Extension Installer, proceed with this manual installation.

  1. Upload Files
    Use FTP software and upload folders inside manual/upload to your site root.
    NOTE Do not upload the folder upload/, but folders inside it.
  2. Upload OcMod
    Go to Extensions > Extension Installer and upload file manual/blog_manager2.ocmod.xml.
    NOTE If you get warning "using the same ID code as the one you are trying to upload!" mean you installing same version. Click the clear button and no need to proceed.
  3. Installation
    Next installation step is the same as Extension Installer: Pre-installation, Installation and Post-installation.

Updates

Update have same step as Installations

Export from Blog Manager

If you previously use Blog Manager for OpenCart v1.5.6.x you can export articles, categories, comments and URL alias to Blog Manager 2

  1. Blog Manager - OpenCart 1.5.6x

    Minimum requirement for this patch to work is Blog Manager v1.3.6.2!
    1. Upload vQmod file update/BM-export-to-BM2/bm_export_to_bm2.xml to your OpenCart 1.5.6x vqmod/xml.

    2. Open Blog Manager admin page and go to About page.

    3. At bottom of the page you will see export panel. Click export button and save the file.
    4. You can remove bm_export_to_bm2.xml from your site.

  2. Blog Manager 2 - OpenCart 2.x

    All data will be erased, only use on Blog Manager 2 fresh install
    1. Go to BM2 Admin > Settings > Backup / Restore

    2. On the Restore section, choose the .sql file you exported before, then click the Restore button.
